On March 15, ECCK held the second session of the Future Development Forum under the theme of “The Future of Operational Innovation: Data Science & AI”.
The Forum was hosted by Datacrunch Inc. and discussed how to leverage data science and AI capabilities to optimize business operations in line with the increasing importance of profit and loss management due to COVID-19.

On March 17, the ECCK CFO Forum held a session“Digital Transformation for Intelligent Enterprise” at The Executive Center.
The session was presented by Mr. Shawn Chun, Head of Industries and Customer Advisory of SAP Korea, and explored how new technologies are being used for corporate management and what can be done with them. In addition, the forum discussed the meaning of Intelligent Enterprise, which is what leading companies are pursuing, and what role Digital Transformation plays for this. Lastly, we would like to thank The Executive Center once again for their generous venue support.

HR Forum on Remote Working

On March 11, ECCK organized a session for its HR Forum on Remote Working. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 many companies have devised ways to implement or improve their ways of remote working.
During this session, Mr. Eric Wan, Principal Consultant at RDI Worldwide and Mr. Praveen Upadhyay, Director People & Culture for Korea at Phillip Morris International shared their insights into what are the key aspects of a successful remote working strategy. We would like to thank our speakers for sharing their wonderful insights.
On March 16, the ECCK hosted a live webinar on 'AI+Ethics=Problems Solved?'. During the webinar, Mr Robert Wagner (Professor of University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen) shared his insights and depth knowledge on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

On International Women's Day, the ECCK hosted a live webinar on the importance of female empowerment and contributions companies can make.

The webinar was presented by Kumjoo Huh (Executive Vice President of Kyobo Life Insurance), Heekyung Min (Executive Vice President CJ CheilJedang), Gilles Fromageot (President & Chief Executive Officer of AXA Korea), and Patsy Li (Global Community Director/Executive Director of The Executive Centre Korea). Ms Eunice Kim, former professor of Ewha Woman University Law School, moderated the event. We would like to thank our speakers for their valuable insights.
On February 23, the ECCK hosted a webinar on the Future of the WTO. During this webinar, Seokyoung CHOI (Senior Advisor, Lee & Ko), Hosuk LEE-MAKIYAMA (Director, ECIPE) and Ignacio GARCIA BERCERO (Director in DG Trade, European Commission) shared their insights and depth knowledge about the WTO.
They explained the WTO’s current situation, assessed the future challenges, and discussed about the direction taken by new leadership.

On February 4, ECCK organized a webinar on the Severe Accidents Penalties Act, which was passed by the National Assembly in January.
During this webinar Mr. Jungwoo Lee, Partner at Yulchon, introduced the general framework and implications of the new Act. Following that, Mr. Yung Sang Lee, Partner at Yulchon focused the Act’s potential legal risk in terms of prosecution. Lastly, Mr. Moritz Winkler, Partner (Foreign Attorney) at Yulchon shared how Compliance Teams can mitigate the impact of the new Act.

On February 2, ECCK organized the sixth edition of its annual Labour Market Trends and Expectations 2021 seminar.
During the webinar Mr. JunWon Choi, Country Manager of Robert Walters Korea, spoke about the Korean labour market and trends by sector as well as amongst professionals. Thereafter, Ms. HC Elizabeth Yu, Co-Head of Employment at Bae, Kim & Lee provided an overview of pertinent changes to employment related regulations in 2021, as well as major employment and labour policies.

On January 21, ECCK President Christoph Heider spoke about the effect of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) on Korea during a joint webinar. On January 18, ECCK organized a webinar about proposed bills to create an expansive class action and punitive damages system in Korea.
During the webinar Kim&Chang’s Jay Kim and Seong-Soo Park explained the background and current status of the bills before discussing the key features (from the introduction of a jury system to civil cases and the retro-active effect of the class-action bill to advised preparatory steps for companies).

Ms. Juliana Lee (Managing Director of Deutsche Bank) shared her expectations on the economic developments in the wider Asia region, after which Dr. Kyu-Chul Jung (Director at the Korea Development Institute) focused his remarks on Korea’s economic outlook.
