Founded in the late 70s, the Baltic Triennial was transformed into a dynamic international event organized by the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC), the largest art organization in the coast of the Baltic Sea, launched in 2016 and won the 58th Golden Prize in Venice Biennial.
Contemporary art in the Baltic country is currently under discoursed, but a new generation of artists are moving from local art forms that represent 'baltic identity' to art with contemporary universal themes such as reflection on modern society, natural ecology, and social justice.
